9 hours to completion (excluding drying time between layers), this was the prize that I donated to the Neigh-Bours Country Craft Market 2018 which coincided with their training show at Northern Farm.
After drawing the toadstools and leaves in in pencil, I stippled the whole page with layers of yellow ochre, viridian, burnt umber and vermilion acrylic paint quite randomly. After that had dried I painted the foliage, leaves and toadstools with quite thick layers of water colour paint. Since the 2 don’t mix, the acrylic paint shows through the water colour even after painting. I added highlights on the toadstools and some floating pollen grains with white gouache to finish up.
