This was an oil painting on a 24 inch x 12 inch deep canvas commissioned by Mala Pillay of her mom and late husband for her mom’s birthday. Mala was a work colleague of mine at the time.

After graphite, oil is probably the medium I have the most experience in, and I thoroughly enjoy it for the photo-reality that it can produce. I love the detail in this work, the folds in her dress and the simple background which brings the couple to the fore.
