This was a huge 37 inch x 24 inch deep canvas oil painting commissioned by Remona Morgan van Rooyen, who picked the photo I worked from herself and asked if she could have an oil painting for her home. I love the 3 dimensional effect that the deep canvas gives, because the painting continues around the edges. This type of painting is hung without framing.

I remembered a piece of advice given to me by my school art teacher, Mrs Lotter, in working on this painting. She pointed out that a black animal very really has much black in it if you look closely.
