40 hours to completion, this was a truly enjoyable deviation from pencil. I had the great pleasure of doing this chalk pastel / soft pastel drawing on A3 Amedeo mixed media textured paper for Alana Dewet of her beautiful chestnut warmblood horse, Alabama, who she recently sold.

I used old style block pastels in many layers, using cotton buds to blend and a Windsor and Newton putty eraser to lift away colour for tonal variation. On completion I used an artist fixative to seal it to the paper.
