9 hours in the making, I did this as a prize for the “A Viking Thing” market on the 7th March 2020. I landed up completing it at the market. This was a lovely exercise for me, as I find this “loose” drawing style challenging, yet this “loose” drawing technique is how all finely detailed works start, and spend quite a bit of time in in truth.

I applied the pastel lightly and blended at each stage with a cotton bud before adding more layers to achieve the shimmering watery realm and the darting movement of these brightly coloured fish.
